"The business of mining deep: below 2.5kms"

Ultra-Deep Mining Network

The Network

UDMN aims to become the leading expert in Ultra-Deep (below 2.5km) research and innovation and to solve the challenges that impact resource extraction in these environments. By supporting solution providers capable of creating the industry-needed tools and technologies in the short term, it will lead the way in helping ultra-deep mines to operate more effectively and safely, generate more value, improve the human environment and enhance mine productivity.

Research Themes

Through this network there are four strategic themes:

Rock stress risk reduction; improve the control of stability in deep underground excavations

Energy reduction: the 40% Mine; improve the energy consumption profile of deep mines

Novel methods of material transport and productivity; increase the rates of development and production in mines

Improved human health; use human centered approach to improve environment in deep mines

UDMN 2.O Webinar

Date: Tuesday, March 20-2018 2:00 pm EST to 3:00 pm EST

Webinar Video

The mining sector has challenges associated with Deep Mining. These challenges are shared with companies in the sector and these challenges can be addressed through research and collaboration, the UDMN is a mechanism to address and overcome these challenges. The UDMN is the nucleus that connects private sector leadership, government funding, and research at all levels to solve challenges associated with Deep Mining.  The UDMN 2.0 is aiming to solve business challenges associated with Excavation Stability, Rock Stress Risk Reduction, Energy Reduction, Underground Productivity, Improved Human Health, Human Machine Interaction and Smart Mining.

The Webinar is designed to answer key questions in regards to how the UDMN 2.0 will work and also how you can be a part of the network.
